Regulatory Management
Transport Canada & The FAA
Since day one we’ve been certified and insured to operate drones across Canada. From 2016-2019 we’ve held Ontario-specific and nationwide standing SFOCs. In early 2019 we expanded our operational experience internationally with Advanced Operator Certification by Transport Canada (TC), Part 107 Certification by the FAA and now being operable in the UK. Our team has experience with operations in complex airspace classes including CYR 518 (Niagara Falls Canada/US Border) airspace, operations in dense urban areas and near Parliament Hill. On top of a perfect safety record, our drones have proprietary safety mechanisms which open up our abilities to fly virtually anywhere.
Drone Pilot Training & Development
LDS pilots undergo rigorous internal training as well as a Transport Canada licensed RPAS Ground School at Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC), one of Canada’s largest leading drone training centres. We also served as TC accredited Flight Reviewers in association with WWFC. LDS executives were also TC Mirror Committee members, helping future drone regulatory standardization across North America.

We’re one of only a handful of companies to have been granted Canadian BVLOS operational approval. This allows us to operate drones beyond-line-of-sight, and in our case, fully autonomously. What makes this even more complex is the fact that our approval involves operations on airport property.
